WATCH: Fox’s Bret Baier Details His Run-in With Alec Baldwin — Weeks After Actor Spoofed Him on SNL
Bret Baier told Fox & Friends Monday about running into Alec Baldwin after the actor spoofed him steamrolling over Vice President Kamala Harris.
Steve Doocy asked, “You don’t have to answer — you told me in the green room about a brush with a celebrity. Do you want to reveal? It is interesting.”
“Well, yeah, it only happens in New York,” Baier said before recounting the serendipitous meet-up.
“Alec Baldwin and his wife came up to the table and he said, ‘I really liked playing you on Saturday Night Live.’ They were very gracious, I didn’t take a picture. I thought it was a little over the top. Harold said, ‘We’re too big for that,’ and I said, ‘I would have loved a picture,'” Baier said of his dinner companion Harold Ford Jr.
On SNL’s Oct. 19 cold open, Baldwin made a cameo with his hair coifed like Baier’s.
“Good evening, I’m Bret Baier, and to clear the air: Yes, I do look like someone made a businessman in Minecraft,” Baldwin quipped about the computer game that features block-like characters.
The skit had Baldwin’s Baier grilling Maya Rudolf’s Harris, while continually interrupting her, pulling for her opponent, and accusing her of “looking for a viral moment.”
The real Baier interviewed the real Harris earlier that month and was described as “unusually aggressive in his questioning.”
“Well, you know, you made it. You were on SNL!” declared Fox & Friends co-host Ainsley Earhardt.
Doocy interjected, “Was he watching you to see how you ate so he can portray you accurately next time?”
“Don’t you guys have doppelgängers?” Baier deflected.
“Oh, yeah, we got ’em,” Doocy answered. “We’ve had many.”
“Not everyone’s happy with theirs!” Ainhardt said.
“How’s yours?” Baier asked Brian Kilmeade.
“Not good. I had that guy, Bobby Moynihan. He’s easily 150 pounds overweight, and ton of chins,” Kilmeade said.
