WATCH: George Conway Literally Chokes Laughing As Tapper Dumps Out of Trump’s Speech With Zinger

CNN anchor Jake Tapper made George Conway literally choke laughing as he dumped out of former President Donald Trump’s post-SCOTUS speech with a well-timed zinger.

The Supreme Court heard arguments Thursday morning in a case that will determine whether states can ban Trump from the ballot on the grounds that he violated the 14th Amendment by engaging in insurrection on January 6.

Shortly after the hearing ended, Tapper cut away from CNN’s post-hearing analysis to carry Trump’s speech from Mar-a-Lago — but only for a few minutes.

About two minutes in, as Trump rambled, Tapper cut away and imperiled Conway’s airway with a one-liner:

DONALD TRUMP: You wouldn’t have any of the problems that we have today. And you certainly had a broker, and now you have a very rich Iran. Iran was broke when I left, and they had no money to give to Hamas–

JAKE TAPPER: Okay. I think we have gotten all the legal analysis we’re going to get out of president Trump. You know, it’s odd there because–.

GEORGE CONWAY: (literally chokes laughing).

JAMIE GANGEL: Can I just.

JAKE TAPPER: This was actually an opportunity for him to come out and and say–.

KASIE HUNT: (laughing) Is it? Is it odd, Jake?

GEORGE CONWAY: No, it’s not because it was. He wants to talk about himself. He doesn’t want to talk about the Supreme Court and say, oh, the Supreme Court did a nice job today. He just wants to talk about what’s on his back here.

JAMIE GANGEL: So can I just say someone didn’t tell him that this sounded like good news for him today. Clearly. I mean, it wasn’t just the rambling sort of campaign speech, but if he had simply listened to the analysis afterwards, he would know that it sounds like he’s in good shape.

JAKE TAPPER: Or George’s point, which is that he doesn’t even care. He just wants to change the subject back to whatever his

Tapper eventually cut back to Trump twice, once when he commented on “legal matters,” and another when he began to take questions. They also dumped out of the Q&A.
