‘We Love Alabama!’ Trump Announces State He Won Big Is Getting Space Command

President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that the Space Command headquarters will be moving to Alabama, a state he won by 30 points.

In a Tuesday press conference from the White House, the president announced that Huntsville, Alabama will be the new location of the headquarters for Space Command, moving from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Trump joked that the fact that he won Alabama by such a wide margin did not influence his decision. Former Vice President Kamala Harris won Colorado in the 2024 presidential election by about 10 points.

“I am thrilled to report that the U.S. Space Command headquarters will move to the beautiful locale of a place called Huntsville, Alabama, forever to be known from this point forward as Rocket City, okay? So Huntsville, Alabama, we love Alabama! I only won it by about 47 points. I don’t think that influenced my decision, though; right? Right? We had a lot of competition for this and Alabama is getting it, Huntsville in particular, so congratulations everybody,” he said, overstating his margin of victory in the state while giving a shoutout to multiple officials in attendance at the announcement, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL).

The move, according to the president, will result in at least 30,000 jobs for Alabama, as well as hundreds of billions in investments.

“Most importantly, this decision will help America defend and dominate the high frontier, as they call it,” Trump said.

It was previously announced that Trump would make a “special announcement” from the White House on Tuesday afternoon, leading to widespread speculation, especially among critics spreading conspiracy theories on the president’s health. Reuters, however, first reported on the Space Command shift coming.

CORRECTION: This article originally stated that Trump won Alabama by 47 points. His highest margin of victory in the state in any presidential general election was 30 points in 2024.
