Piers Morgan Lays Into Don Lemon For ‘Being a Complete Dick’ During Explosive Interview
Piers Morgan tore into former CNN host Don Lemon for “being a complete dick” on Thursday as the two men traded insults during a shouting match on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
While the interview began on a calm note, things quickly became heated after Lemon was asked about his involuntary departure from CNN a few years ago.
After Lemon remarked, “I don’t believe in canceling people,” Morgan questioned, “Do you feel you were a victim of cancel culture at CNN?”
“Um, I– probably,” answered Lemon. “Probably yes. I’m sure that I was a victim of cancel culture.”
Morgan then said, “For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, this is what led to you leaving CNN. Let’s take a look,” before playing a clip of Lemon being berated by his female co-hosts for making a sexist comment about Nikki Haley not being “in her prime.”
“Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime. Sorry. When a woman is considered being in her prime in her 20s and 30s and maybe 40s–” remarked Lemon in the controversial 2023 clip. “If you Google, ‘When is a woman in her prime?’ it will say, ’20s, 30s, and 40s.'”
Morgan reacted, “I happened to be watching that live and I was like, ‘Whoa, what did you just say?’ I mean, if you had a do-over, would you say that again? I mean, what led you to say that?”
The former CNN host snapped, “When I asked you what subjects you wanted to talk about, you know what you said to me? You said, ‘I want to talk to you about freedom of speech in America and the response to Charlie Kirk’s death.’ Not once did you mention that we were going to talk about CNN or whatever, and had I known that, I probably wouldn’t have accepted this interview.”
After Lemon accused Morgan of trying to “ambush” him, Morgan shot back, “Ambushed? Hang on one second. Don, hang on one second. Let’s just be crystal clear about what’s just happened. You brought up the subject of cancel culture. I asked you, ‘Did you feel your departure from CNN was an example of that?’ and you answered the question.”
The two men then began to shout over each other:
Morgan: What are you talking about?! I think you’re being a complete dick, if I’m honest with you. I do!
Lemon: Okay, well that’s very kind and respectful of you.
Morgan: It wasn’t intended to be kind or respectful.
Lemon: I could respond in kind, but I won’t because I think that I am above that.
Morgan: You can say what you like about me, I don’t care… I don’t understand why you’re playing the victim card when you yourself mentioned cancel culture.
After Lemon complained that Morgan was not being “a respectful journalist and host,” Morgan shot back, “I don’t think I’ll take lectures on being a respectful journalist from you, Don. I won’t!”
He continued, “I don’t know why you’ve gone on this weird rant. I don’t understand any of it. Why have you done this weird reaction?”
Lemon insisted that the controversial 2023 clip “had nothing to do with me leaving CNN,” before complaining that Morgan and others had taken his remarks “out of context.”
