Dan Abrams Reveals Why Elon Musk’s Claim Trump Is In Epstein Files ‘Makes Sense’
Mediaite founder Dan Abrams said Friday that Elon Musk’s claim about President Donald Trump being named in the Epstein files “kind of makes sense,” given the Justice Department’s continued delay in releasing them.
Abrams made the remarks during an appearance on The Press Club with Aidan McLaughlin, after Musk set off a political firestorm Thursday by suggesting Trump is named in sealed records related to Jeffrey Epstein.
As Musk and Trump traded barbs online Thursday, Musk took to X to claim Trump was the sole reason the files were not available.
He posted, “Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
“This is something you have been saying for months now,” McLaughlin told Abrams. “That Trump’s relationship with Epstein could be the reason that these files are being kept secret.”
Abrams said the fact that the files had been withheld despite vows of transparency from the DOJ and the FBI has not made any sense to him.
“Meaning, these files are not the most important things out there,” Abrams argued. “Remember, there’s two issues, right? There’s number one, which is, was there a conspiracy in his death? And now you have Dan Bongino and Kash Patel coming out and basically saying, there isn’t anything there. And that’s upsetting the conspiracy theorists.”
Abrams continued:
Now, there are Democrats and Republicans, right? Bill Clinton flew on his plane a couple dozen times. You know, Bill Gates, others were on Epstein’s plane, but so was Donald Trump. And Donald Trump initially said he didn’t, and then in the Ghislaine Maxwell trial, it came out that he’d actually flown on the plane seven times. It’s with that background that it all seems kind of weird, right? Which is Attorney General Pam Bondi in February, tells us they’re going to be releasing everything.
Before Kash Patel gets in his role, he says that Trump should have been campaigning on from day one to release everything in the Epstein files. So you have Kash Patel who was saying, we need to release every, you have Pam Bondi promising they were going to release. And then there’s a hiccup. Then it seems like there’s some issue between Kash Patel and Pam Bondi about who has what. And then as time passes, their claim is, end of March, that FBI agents are working 24/7 to redact names of the victims from the Epstein files to protect their identities.
Abrams added that since it had taken federal agents so long to sift through the files, it is reasonable to postulate about the delays.
He concluded, “You put that in conjunction now with what Elon Musk says, and it kind of makes sense. So look, I don’t know for certain, but I have long speculated that I couldn’t think of any other reason why they haven’t released these Epstein files.”
