Seasoned News Reporters Hired Away From Networks For YouTube-First Gigs at Law&Crime

Kristin Thorne, Kennedi Walker, and Chris Stewart join Law&Crime
Law&Crime, the legal and true crime media company started by Mediaite founder Dan Abrams, announced new talent and programming to its lineup in yet another sign that YouTube is now a serious alternative to traditional media platforms.
Among the latest additions is Kennedi Walker, an award-winning journalist formerly with KTVT in Dallas. Walker will take on the role of a daily reporter at Law&Crime, providing live news updates and comprehensive coverage of major legal cases and developments.
Kristin Thorne, a five-time Emmy-winning investigative crime reporter formerly with WABC 7’s Eyewitness News in New York City, is also joining the team. Thorne will host a new investigative series under the “Law&Crime Investigates” umbrella.
Completing the trio of new hires is Chris Stewart, an anchor and reporter formerly with Scripps News. Stewart will lead Law&Crime’s latest investigative series, On the Case with Chris Stewart, which the network said will feature in-depth examinations of high-profile legal battles, exclusive interviews, and fresh insights into complex cases.
Rachel Stockman, President of Law&Crime, said of the company’s expansion:
We are thrilled to welcome Chris, Kristin, and Kennedi to the Law&Crime family. Each brings a unique perspective and deep passion for investigative journalism. They will play a vital role in enhancing our programming and delivering exclusive stories to our audience.
Since its founding in 2017, Law&Crime has grown from a small startup with a focus on live trial coverage to a streaming and production company with more than 6.7 million subscribers on its primary YouTube channel. The company was acquired last year by Jellysmack in a nine-figure deal.
