‘Sick to My Stomach’: Former Annunciation Student Says Her Heart Is Broken After Shooting

A former student at Annunciation Catholic School in Minnesota told MSNBC she does not “feel safe” following the deadly shooting at the school on Wednesday morning.

“It breaks my heart, makes me sick to my stomach, knowing that there’s probably people I know that are either injured, or even killed,” the unnamed young woman said. “It doesn’t make me feel safe at all in this community that I’ve been a part of for so long.”

She continued: “Me and my friends were talking, like this is like our version of 9/11 because we didn’t grow up during 9/11. So this, with our community, that’s what it feels like.”

MSNBC conducted the brief street interview with the woman, who was wearing blue medical scrubs, during the 11:00 a.m. ET hour of Ana Cabrera Reports.

Cabrera, following the 30-second interview, said, “Obviously, a lot of trauma right now in this community, as everybody is trying to find their loved ones who may have been in that school and determine what exactly has happened.”

MNSBC’s interview came after a gunman shot and killed at least 2 people and wounded at least 20 others at the Minnesota school at around 8:30 a.m. local time. Students ranging from kindergarten through 8th grade were attending a schoolwide mass at the time of the attack.
