Colorado Football Star Travis Hunter Clears the Air With Colorado State Safety After Controversial Hit that Resulted in Death Threats
University of Colorado two-way football star Travis Hunter reunited with Colorado State safety Henry Blackburn to publicly clear the air following their intense matchup on the field.
What started as a war of words between coaches Deion Sanders and Jay Norvell became an electrifying clash between the two teams during this year’s Rocky Mountain Showdown on Sept. 16. An incident that heightened the tension between the two teams occurred when Hunter left the game after taking a late hit from Blackburn. It was later determined that Hunter suffered a lacerated liver and will miss several games.

The hit caused an uproar in the sports world, with many people believing that Blackburn should have been ejected for what they perceived to be a dirty play. Unfortunately, some took it a step too far and sent death threats to Blackburn and his family. His family’s address was also published online.
Amid all the chaos, Hunter and Blackburn decided to get together to put an end to the negativity and get to know one another. In the video — posted from Hunter’s own YouTube channel — the two confirmed that they already patched things up via private messages online.
Hunter emphasized that he never resented Blackburn for the hit and it was nothing more than a football play in which he was injured.
“It’s football at the end of the day,” Hunter said. “You’re expecting something bad to happen on the football field. You’re going out there to run into each other a thousand times a game. Something bad is gonna happen. That’s how I look at it. When it happened, [I thought], ‘It’s not his fault. It’s football.'”
Blackburn said his main concern was his family during the media frenzy.
“All that stuff that went down after the game, I can take it. I’m not tripping about me,” Blackburn said. “It’s just like — I got two little sisters at the house still, in elementary school. That’s what I was mainly worried about, their safety and everything. But I appreciate you coming out and just saying it’s football because that helped calm things down.”
After sitting down and talking it out, the two went to a nearby bowling alley and played one another for charity.
