Competitive Eating Legend Joey Chestnut Crushes 3-on-1 Pierogi-Eating Contest During Cleveland Cavaliers Halftime Show

Championship eater Joey Chestnut put on a relatively tame exhibition when he downed almost 40 pierogi during the Cleveland Cavaliers halftime show.

The 40-year-old on Tuesday took on three Cavs fans — mere mortals in comparison — in the contest. Their three tallies were against his.

With 30 seconds remaining, it was clear Chestnut was running away with the victory. The 16-time Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest champion had already eaten 31 of the Polish dumplings compared to just 18 combined by the three standing next to him.

In the end, Chestnut finished with a staggering 39 pierogi. The three fans combined for 23.

Chest was then presented with a championship belt for his efforts.

“Ladies and gentleman,” the arena emcee began, “your winner and still Cavalier pierogi champion of the world: Joey Chestnut!”

Before grabbing the belt, Chestnut took one more sip of water for widening his eyes in an expression of relief.

Although 39 pierogi is an inconceivable amount of food for practically anyone else on the planet, it’s a very low amount by Chestnut’s standards. In addition to eating a record 76 hot dogs in 10 minutes at Nathan’s annual contest, he managed a record 165 pierogi at the Horseshoe World Pierogi-Eating Championship in 2014. He did so in just eight minutes.
