ESPN Insider Adam Schefter Inadvertently Brings Back Vaccine Discussion on The Pat McAfee Show: ‘Pushing Your Narrative!’

A harmless NFL discussion on The Pat McAfee Show nearly went off the rails when insider Adam Schefter unintentionally made a reference to the Covid-19 vaccine.

Schefter joined the show on Monday to talk about head coaches in the NFL. When former player Darius Butler asked Schefter which head coaches should be expected in the off-season, the reporter said Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson. Then, Schefter subtly referred to the pharmaceutical company of the same last name.

“I think the first names that are gonna come off a lot of people’s list will be Ben Johnson and Brian Johnson,” Schefter said. “Johnson and Johnson.”

The reference was met with immediate groans from McAfee’s crew. Thanks to all the attention the show’s gotten in recent weeks from Aaron Rodgers’ comments on the vaccine, they’ve been quick to avoid the topic since.

“Alright, Big Pharma, we get it!” McAfee said.

Commentator Boston Connor jokingly accused Schefter of “pushing your narrative.”

“OK, we get it, Schefty,” McAfee continued. “Thanks. Thanks for throwing us in the middle of that.”

One Tuesday, Rodgers teased Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce by calling him “Mr. Pfizer” due to his appearances in ads promoting the vaccine. What followed was weeks of Rodgers using his regular appearance on the show to continue taking shots at both Kelce and former chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci. Due to the extensive coverage and backlash for the segments, McAfee has mocked the media for making such a big deal out of a few brief moments of his three-hour-long show.
