Jean-Pierre Rips Trump When Politico Asks About Stunning Taylor Swift-Biden Conspiracy Theory Poll
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre ripped former President Donald Trump after a reporter asked about a poll showing 1 in 5 Americans believe a “covert” plan for pop star Taylor Swift to help reelect President Joe Biden exists — a belief that’s concentrated among Trump fans.
According to a new Monmouth University poll published Wednesday, belief in a covert Swift/Biden effort was especially prevalent among Trump supporters — of those who believe in it, 83 percent said they plan to vote for Trump.
At Wednesday’s White House press briefing, Politico reporter Hailey Fuchs read out the details of the poll and asked if the White House is “concerned” by the result.
Jean-Pierre related it to the Trump election deniers who stormed the Capitol over the false belief the election was stolen:
HAILEY FUCHS: A new poll found that nearly 1 in 5 Americans believe that Taylor Swift is part of a plot to help President Biden win the election. This conspiracy is particularly resonating with voters believe the 2020 election was stolen. Is the White House concerned at all about this conspiracy theory and the fact that so many Americans believe it?
KARINE JEAN-PIERRE: Look, I mean, we’ve talked about this before. Obviously what we saw on January 6th, 2021 spoke to, spoke to that. It was an attack on our democracy and the 2,000-plus, angry mob that was there, was there falsely believing that they it was their right, or they could be able to turn over, turn over, turn over an election that was, by the way, you know, there were Republican judges, Democrat judges, many others who said, it was, one of the safest elections, that we’ve had, and that the results obviously were the results of 2020.
And so do we we have a concern about our democracy and where it’s going and protecting our democracy? The president speaks to this all the time. The president has made really critical key remarks about that.
And does — Americans care about — you have a majority of Americans who actually believe that we need to protect our democracy. We need to protect our freedom. We saw that in the results of 2022 and that midterm election. That’s what came out of that. One of the big issues that came out of that.
And so we’re always going to be concerned, obviously, and speak to it. And, you know, there’s a lot in front of Americans right now as it relates to our democracy, to our freedoms.
Anything else look, you know, the Taylor Swift conspiracy, that’s for others to speak to. I’m not going to speak to that from here.
Biden mocked the conspiracy theory before the Super Bowl in his first-ever TikTok video:
NARRATOR: Deviously plotting to rig the season so the Chiefs would make the Super Bowl. Or the Chiefs just being a good football team?
PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: I’d get in trouble if I told you.
NARRATOR: Trump or Biden.
PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: Are you kidding? Biden!
