Travis Kelce Breaks Down Talking About His Brother Jason’s Retirement From the NFL: ‘It Was a Fun A** Journey to Watch’

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was brought to tears talking about his brother’s retirement and the way he inspired him throughout his career.

On Monday, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce announced his intention to retire from the NFL. The 36-year-old spent all 13 seasons of his career with the Eagles, earning All-Pro recognition six times and establishing himself as one of the greatest to ever play the position.

During his tearful speech that ran well over 40 minutes, Jason thanked a wide variety of people who helped him throughout his career. Travis, seated in the front row of the press room with the rest of their family, was just as emotional.

On the most recent episode of their podcast New Heights, Travis wasn’t done the tears when he talked about how “empty” it will feel to no longer have his older brother in the league with him.

“You’ve always been a step ahead of me in this game,” Travis told him. “And it’s always been like I’ve had that floatation device there. To have you out of it, man, it feels empty and it definitely — it feels like it’s complete. It was a success.”

Travis then stopped for a few seconds as the tears started flowing.

“It was a fun ass journey to watch,” Travis continued. “Like I said yesterday, man, I just appreciate you showing me the way and bringing us all along the journey with you, big guy.”
