WATCH: Sportscaster’s Hilarious Reaction When Partner Asks If Team ‘Can Ride The D’ — No Not THAT ‘D’

NFL Network host Chris Rose got an awkwardly pregnant pause from co-host Maurice Jones-Drew when he asked a poorly phrased question in a moment that went viral on social media.

Saturday night’s NFL Wild Card Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins was a hotly-anticipated matchup — at least by those who grudgingly or otherwise shelled out for a Peacock subscription (or free trial) to see the widely-criticized streaming-only broadcast.

Alas, the game turned into a 26-7 blowout, as Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs handily defeated Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins.

Mahomes no doubt got a big assist from the freezing temperatures, and perhaps a smaller assist from a force of nature known as Taylor Swift.

But on Saturday’s edition of NFL Network’s NFL GameDay Final, it was “the D” that got credit from Rose — who quickly clarified exactly which “D” he was talking about when he got a priceless look from Jones-Drew:

CHRIS ROSE: I don’t, I don’t know if it’s so much that the identity of this team has shifted, but this is far and away the best defense that Patrick Mahomes has had, right?

I mean, is it possible that they could ride the D?

MAURICE JONES-DREW: I– I– (pause).

CHRIS ROSE: The defense?

MAURICE JONES-DREW: Okay. (smiles) Listen, I believe that this defense is a championship defense. I believe that they have a championship running game. With a championship quarterback. I believe in that.

The Chiefs will play the winner of Monday night’s postponed Buffalo Bills – Pittsburgh Steelers game. If the Bills win, KC will have to travel to even more frozen hellhole Buffalo, whereas they’ll play at home if the Steelers are their opponent.

Either way, riding the D will certainly not hurt the Chiefs — but Mahones and his offensive corps will also have to show off their “O-face” if they really want to hit it and hit it good.
