Justin Long, Once the ‘I’m a Mac’ Guy, Is Now Trashing Mac in Ads

Justin Long is apparently no longer a Mac guy.

The actor, who previously starred as the Mac in Apple’s 2006  “I’m a Mac, and I’m a PC” ad campaign has officially switched sides — appearing in Intel’s latest ads to mock certain Mac features.

Long begins each ad in front of a typical white background, reminiscent of the set used in Mac’s former campaign. “Hello, I’m a… Justin,” he says. “Just a real person doing a real comparison between Mac and PC.”

The actor goes on to praise certain Intel features, like being able to unlock the computer using face identification, also celebrating the variety of laptops available

“And let’s see over here. So these are the newer Macs?” Long asks. “Ok, so, gray and grayer?”

In other commercials in the series, Long mocks Apple’s Touch Bar and the computers’ lack of M1 multiple monitor support.

Long’s appearance in the latest Intel ads comes shortly after Apple decided to bring back actor John Hodgman, who previously played the role of their PC guy:

Hodgman reprised the role during Apple’s “One More Thing” event in November 2020, during which the company revealed its M1 chip and designs for the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac Mini.

“I’m a PC. Is there time for questions?” Hodgman asks in the video. “Because I have one. Why make all these advancements? What’s the point?”

The actor then claims to be proud of being a machine before imitating a loud computer fan, adding, “Longer battery life — plug it in! Where are you going? Just plug it in.”

“Fast? I’m fast. I’m still fast. Check it out. I’ve still got it,” Hodgman says, struggling to run in place.”PC, still got it. I’ve always been there. I always will be. Fast. Ok, my battery is drained. I gotta go plug in. Good luck.”
