Tucker Carlson Pranked By British YouTubers Into Believing ‘Bullsh*t’ Claim About Princess of Wales Photo
Former Fox News Host Tucker Carlson fell prey to a British YouTube prank about the Princess of Wales photoshop controversy.
Joshua Pieters and Archie Thomas Manners, who go by the moniker “Josh & Archie,” took aim at Carlson to entertain their 1.5 million subscribers on the social media platform.
The duo documented how they talked Carlson’s staff members into believing one of them was the “former digital content editor” to the Prince and Princess of Wales who was fired “for negligence” because of the bad editing job.
Josh & Archie ginned up a fake “letter of engagement,” complete with ridiculous clauses, when asked by Carlson’s staff for proof of employment at the palace.
Carlson even introduced the segment on his show that streams on X (formerly Twitter) by claiming, “We’ve done our best to verify that your identity is what you say it is. You’re not a fake [Alexei] Navalny or doing a prank.”
“Manners said he ‘stroked’ Carlson’s ego with the ‘bullshit’ claim that he was giving the former Fox man the exclusive because ‘mainstream media in the UK wouldn’t touch it,'” Deadline reported.
The duo said they decided to reveal their prank because, “We didn’t want to cause any more rumors, that are not true, to go out to lots and lots of people.”
Any news about Kate Middleton, wife to Britain’s heir to the throne, Prince William, has been hot fodder due to some unusual circumstances surrounding her whereabouts.
First, there was the hospitalization for “abdominal surgery” that forced her to decrease her royal duties in order to recuperate. Then came the badly photoshopped photo of Kate with her children that was retracted by global news agencies because it had been “digitally altered.”
According to ABC News, “The original, edited file of the photo Kate, the Princess of Wales, shared Sunday on social media, shows the photo was processed twice in Adobe Photoshop.”
Kate, herself, ultimately took the blame for the photo-fail, which was an unusual move for a Royal. Her public apology did not dampen the controversy, however, which continues to rage.
Carlson’s staff initially said they would run the interview “sometime next week.” There’s been no word yet from Carlson’s camp about the prank.
Carlson’s new streaming show has been under fire for conducting “softball interviews,” including with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He was fired from his top-rated Fox News show nearly a year ago due to workplace “toxicity” and Fox’s multi-million dollar settlement with Dominion Voting Systems over 2020 election lies.
