‘Are You Gay-Shaming Me?’ Watters Objects When Tarlov Calls El-Sayed ‘Jesse’s New Boyfriend’

Fox News host Jesse Watters shot back at co-host Jessica Tarlov on Wednesday after she dubbed Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed his “new boyfriend,” asking, “Are you gay-shaming me?”

On Monday, Watters hosted El-Sayed on Jesse Watters Primetime. The pair sparred for roughly 25 minutes over issues ranging from immigration and health care to transgender athletes, with the interview taking a wild turn when El-Sayed, responding to a question about gender-affirming care for minors, asked Watters, “Are you circumcised?”

Yet despite the contentious tone of their conversation, on Tuesday, Watters told The Five, “I like him. I don’t want to like him. I like him for some stupid reason.” Later in the evening, on his own primetime show, he added, “He’s not your typical stiff.”

On Wednesday, the word of the day seemed to be “experimenting,” as Watters and fellow co-host Greg Gutfeld mocked Tarlov, who was making her first appearance on The Five this week, for “experimenting in college.” The word was first brought up in reference to comments by Hillary Clinton, in which she said that the rise of democratic socialist candidates was an “experiment” for the Democratic Party.

“My god, you guys are annoying,” Tarlov admitted. “It’s about speaking to the concerns of the populace, and that is something that actually these candidates from the DSA or from the progressive left, like Jesse’s new boyfriend, Abdul, are doing a lot more effectively than the center of the party.”

“Are you gay-shaming me?” Watters asked as Gutfeld laughed.

“I am gay-priding you every day, Jesse,” Tarlov responded. “I very much enjoyed the interview, and was sad that I missed circumcision day.”

Later in the segment, Tarlov brought up Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico, prompting co-host Lisa Kennedy Montgomery to add, “I think now he’s experimenting with heterosexuality.”

“Don’t gay-shame Jesse,” Tarlov responded.

“I celebrate whatever Jesse and James Talarico are doing in that upcoming interview,” concluded Kennedy.

While it isn’t clear if Talarico plans to appear on Fox News, Watters made it clear that he would be open to having El-Sayed on for a second time.
