‘Are You Kidding Me?’ Chris Cuomo Shocked By Positive AOC Poll Since She’s a ‘Deranged Form of Democrat’
NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo called Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) a “deranged form of Democrat” who is “killing” her party as he railed against growing extremism in the United States.
On Tuesday, Cuomo sounded the alarm on growing political extremism in the United States, citing recent tragedies like the killing of two Israeli Embassy staffers in Washington, D.C., as well as the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City.
Cuomo then moved on to the Democratic Party, blasting members for embracing far-left policies on issues like immigration.
“This is why immigration resonated with the many, not just MAGA. The majority is not afraid of migrants, as Trump may like, but they are afraid of these guys, Iranian nationals with jihadist sympathies,” he said. “You let them in with a laxity that AOC and other radicals insisted on. And the far left is actively embracing people who are the enemy. Pro Hamas? People who chant globalize the intifada, the Palestinian uprising characterized by over 130 suicide bombings, really?”
Cuomo insisted he was not “picking on” Ocasio-Cortez, but he reacted with shock at a poll showing some believe she represents the core values of the Democratic Party.
“I’m not picking on AOC. I respect her success in developing a following. I just think that she’s killing her party. She is a deranged form of Democrat,” he said. “And I am pointing her out because she’s at the top of the food chain. A recent CNN poll found she’s the top Democratic leader who best reflects the core values of the Democratic Party, and this is by Democratic voters. She ranked higher than Harris, Jeffries, Newsom, even Obama. Are you kidding me? She couldn’t be less about what made the Democratic party great.”
Ocasio-Cortez, he added, is “not a real one,” pointing to the late Mario Cuomo, a New York Governor and Cuomo’s father, and others like Ted Kennedy as the true representation of the party. Ocasio-Cortez, it should be noted, endorsed Zohran Mamdani in New York’s mayoral primary, who ran against Cuomo’s brother Andrew Cuomo.
The poll Cuomo is referring to is a CNN survey from March that found Ocasio-Cortez topping numerous other Democratic leaders as the person who best represents the party. A total of 10% of Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents named Ocasio-Cortez, while others like former Vice President Kamala Harris only scored in the single digits.
Ocasio-Cortez has most recently been openly feuding with President Donald Trump after calling his Iran strikes “unconstitutional.” The president called the congresswoman “stupid” and “one of the dumbest people” in Congress.
“Mr. President, don’t take your anger out on me – I’m just a silly girl,” Ocasio-Cortez fired back in response. “Take it out on whoever convinced you to betray the American people and our Constitution by illegally bombing Iran and dragging us into war.”
