Blitzer to Clinton Spox: You Think There’s ’Plot’ in State Dept IG Office to Get Hillary?
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer confronted Hillary Clinton spokesman Brian Fallon earlier today over his strong accusation that the State Department inspector general’s office is filled with partisans who are out to get Clinton.
In reaction to the feds issuing a subpoena to the Clinton Foundation, Fallon said it’s hard for him “to keep track of all the fishing expeditions that this IG office has conducted.” He brought up another investigation into a Clinton aide and a connection between one official in that office and Republican Senator Chuck Grassley.
Fallon declared that “these individuals… have a history of targeting Hillary Clinton,” including leaking stories on the eves of primaries and debates.
Blitzer asked him if he honestly thinks there’s a “plot” inside the IG’s office “to get Hillary Clinton.” Fallon insisted they’ve conducted “several fishing expedition-style investigations” with people who have a background going after Clinton.
He added, “I think Democratic voters see it as quite transparent.”
