Bob Marley’s Family Debuts New Marijuana Brand on Today Show

Now that Bob Marley brand marijuana is a thing, it’s somehow hard to imagine a world without it. On Tuesday, the Today show reported that investors have raised over $50 million to launch Marley Natural, which is being described as the first mainstream, global pot brand.

And the reggae legend’s family is standing behind it. “It just seems natural that Daddy should be part of this conversation,” his first-born daughter Cedella Marley told NBC News. “If we can hep use his voice to continue the movement, I think it would be something that he would be very happy that he was a part of.”

The marketing push comes complete with a logo from the same firm that designed the Starbucks mermaid:

As a Rastafarian, marijuana consumption was a part of Bob Marley’s religion. It was an attitude and lifestyle he helped engender in college students and other young people all over the world even decades after his death in 1981.

According to the Marley Natural website, “His wisdom about cannabis, ‘the herb,’ as he called it, to be a positive force in awakening creativity, conscience, and well-being is now embraced by many around the world.” The company’s mission is to “help undo the suffering and injustice of cannabis prohibition around the world.”
