CNN Anchor Calls Out MAGA Senator for Calling Trudeau ‘Governor’ — He Replies ‘It Was 100% Intentional’
Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) referred to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as “Governor” during an appearance on CNN Tuesday — a term he insisted to anchor Kasie Hunt “was 100% intentional.”
President Donald Trump has repeatedly mocked the leader of America’s neighbor to the north as “Governor” of the “state” of Canada, along with declaring that the country should be annexed to become the 51st state. Trudeau, unsurprisingly, has rejected all suggestions that Canada forfeit its sovereignty.
Trump’s 25% tariffs that kicked off Tuesday are adding to the heated rhetoric between the two countries.
Mullin, a staunch Trump supporter, was on The Arena with Kasie Hunt Tuesday, and was asked about Ukraine and then these new tariffs.
Hunt asked the Oklahoma senator if he had heard any concerns from farmers in his state about the tariffs.
Mullin replied that he considered himself one of the ranchers and farmers and the tariffs were necessary even though they would “hurt our homes,” “hurt our finances,” and “hurt our communities,” because “we understand that we need to get America back on track” and “stop the criminal activity, the flow of illegal activity” coming across the border.
“That has to be solved,” Mullin continued. “What we would love to do is, we would love to have Governor Trudeau work with us on the northern border and help solve that issue. We would love to have Mexico work with us and solve that issue. Why they don’t want to and why they’re allowing cartels to openly work in their countries, flowing their illegal activities to us, is the bigger question. Why are they allowing that to take place?”
“Not sure if you’re calling him Governor Trudeau was, was intentional, since Donald Trump often calls it the 51st state –” Hunt said.
“It was intentional, 100 percent, Kasie,” Mullin replied.
“All right, fair enough,” Hunt said, laughing.
“It was, it was 100 percent intentional, yeah,” he reiterated.
“Okay, Senator Markwayne Mullin,” Hunt said before thanking him for coming on the show.
