CNN Panel Blows Up After Scaramucci Insists Trump Is Presidential: ‘Paying Off a Porn Star Is Presidential?’
Even though President Donald Trump said himself at a campaign rally last night that he’s tossed out acting presidential because his supporters would be “bored,” one of his biggest defenders insisted today that Trump has been “very presidential,” leading to a CNN panel blowing up.
Appearing on State of the Union, one-time White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci was asked by guest host Jim Acosta what kind of example Trump is setting by saying he doesn’t have to be presidential.
“I mean that’s because you’re, again, this is the mistake everybody’s making about him,” Scaramucci responded. “He’s obviously very presidential.”
“In what way?” Acosta asked while other panelists began to snicker.
“What are you talking about?” Mooch reacted. “Let’s go to the North Korean situation. I think he’s breaking new presidential ground in the North Korea situation.”
Others then jumped into the discussion, with CNN political commentator Amanda Carpenter taking exception to the notion that just because Trump is president doesn’t mean “everything he does is presidential.”
After liberal contributor Bakari Sellers said “presidential is not something associated with Donald Trump” by bringing up the president’s marital infidelities and issues surrounding the Russia probe, Scaramucci stated that they “may have to get a couch in here for some of you people” when Trump wins in 2020.
This led to the panel going off again, with Carpenter slamming Scaramucci for suggesting they all needed therapy for objecting to Trump. Scaramucci once more insisted he could make the case that Trump as presidential, causing Sellers to bring up a major news story currently roiling the White House.
“Paying off a porn star is presidential?” Sellers declared, referencing the Stormy Daniels scandal.
“He didn’t pay off a porn star,” Mooch shot back, noting that Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen sent Daniels the funds.
This would lead to Mooch claiming that Cohen has “definitely” said that the president had nothing to do with the hush agreement. Obviously, the rest of the panel jumped all over him for this, causing Scaramucci to tell them they were “all over the map.”
“The guy is presidential because he is the president,” he reiterated.
“No, that’s not how this works!” Carpenter exclaimed.
