CNN’s Elie Honig Suggests Ghislaine Maxwell Might Downplay Trump-Epstein Relationship to Secure Pardon

CNN legal analyst Elie Honig suggested that Ghislaine Maxwell may downplay President Donald Trump’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein in exchange for a presidential pardon on Wednesday’s edition of The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.

“It raises questions about her credibility,” Honig told Wolf Blitzer, referring to her lawyer’s letter yesterday.

“If Ms. Maxwell were to receive clemency, she would be willing — and eager — to testify openly and honestly, in public, before Congress,” read the letter from defense attorney David Markus. She currently faces 20 years in prison after a 2022 conviction for sex trafficking and other charges.

Honig went on to call her lawyer’s plea for pardon yesterday “a little unbecoming.”

“Here you have a person who’s begging, really, for her life, for a pardon or commutation, yet the very person who can give that to her is Donald Trump,” he noted.

Honig ended the segment questioning if Maxwell “really is going to be able to be fully truthful, credible, and forthcoming about everything she knows about Donald Trump,” or if she might “be incentivized to try and soften any edges relating to that one person who has the power to give her what she wants.”
