CNN’s JFK Documentary #1 in Cable News Demo Ratings

 

Thursday night’s CNN airing of documentary The Sixties: The Assassination of President Kennedy was number-one in cable news last night among the key demo of adult viewers ages 25-54.

The documentary, which marks the 50th anniversary of Kennedy’s assassination in Dallas, Texas, and executive produced by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman, and Mark Herzog, aired from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., averaging 508k viewers in the key demo. During those two hours, Fox came in second with 487k demo viewers, and MSNBC finished third with 181k.

The Sixties even outperformed CNN’s successful documentary CNN Films: Blackfish, which hit 472k viewers in the demo.

During The Sixties‘ two hours, however, Fox won in overall viewers, averaging 2.51M versus CNN’s 1.32M and MSNBC’s 730k.
