Colbert Skewers Trump’s Plan to Eliminate Federal Agencies That Don’t Exist

Donald Trump had a swing and a miss recently, so naturally, The Late Show is making sure no one forgets about it.

Stephen Colbert used his show last night to demonstrate how the Wisconsin primary was a major upset to the frontrunners of both sides of the 2016 race. After addressing Trump’s defeat at the hands of Ted Cruz, Colbert comedically deconstructed Trump’s lack of focused specifics or policy plans to back up his big talk.

However, Trump did give some specific names to Fox’s Sean Hannity on Monday about which government departments he would like to cut down to size. Trump complained about how the “Department of Environmental” puts a stranglehold on American businesses, but while there is such a thing as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Colbert pointed out that there’s one little problem with the so-called “DEP.”

“We looked it up, and the Department of Environmental does not exist,” Colbert said, “meaning Trump is either talking out of his ass or he’s already eliminated it.”

Colbert immediately remedied the situation though, and dropped the names of several fake federal agencies that Trump could think about eliminating instead.
