‘Dark Times In America’: Troll Calls Into C-SPAN During Inauguration To Complain ‘Bama Was Snubbed From College Football Playoff

C-SPAN opened the phones Monday morning for callers to weigh in on President Donald Trump’s inauguration, and the network was duped by a troll who complained Alabama was left out of this year’s College Football Playoff.

While Monday was Inauguration Day, the night belonged to this year’s national title game between Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Alabama, which dropped three regular season games in 2024 – including one blowout to a middling Oklahoma team – was left out of the dance in the first year of the 12-team playoff.

A man calling himself Graham, who said he was calling on C-SPAN’s Democrats line from Jersey City, New Jersey, made a mockery of the network’s inauguration coverage by griping about the CFP selection committee.

First, the prankster set up his troll job by saying he was disappointed to see the country elected Trump instead of Vice President Kamala Harris in November. He also wished C-SPAN’s viewers a happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day before briefly derailing the network’s political coverage:

I want to wish everyone a happy MLK day. Umm, I hope everyone is staying warm. I’m a bit disappointed in how the election turned out. I think it would’ve been great to see a female president inaugurated today. And while I’m disappointed in the American people and their desire to see another four years of Trump, I’m a bit more disappointed in the selection committee for not picking Alabama for the College Football Playoff finals, and accepting inferior teams like SMU and Indiana. Truly dark times in America.

To Graham’s point, or whatever his name was, both Indiana and SMU were bounced out of the playoff early on.

Still, Alabama’s resume this past season was highly suspect and the Crimson Tide ended a disappointing season, losing 19-13 to a 7-5 Michigan team in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

Not that any of that matters, as Graham was trolling anyway.
