De Blasio: We Should ‘Put Aside Protest’ Until After Slain Officers’ Funerals

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called today for a temporary stop to protests until the funeral services conclude for Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, the two NYPD officers killed in Brooklyn on Saturday.

“I’m asking everyone––and this is across the spectrum,” de Blasio said, “to put aside protest, put aside demonstrations, until these funerals are passed. Let’s just focus on these families and what they have lost.”

The mayor has been getting some flak for creating an anti-police environment that led to the shooting, with the head of one police union saying “there’s blood on many hands.”
