Dem Rep. DeFazio: This Is a ‘Seinfeld Shutdown, A Shutdown About Nothing’

On Wednesday morning, there was a House hearing on why the National Parks Service was shut down, and Democratic congressman Peter DeFazio took a shot at his Republican colleagues for causing that shutdown in the first place, calling it a “Seinfeld shutdown” about nothing.

DeFazio found it laughable that Republicans were so angry about parks and national monuments shutting down, calling the hearing “at best, nonsensical.”

He also said the shutdown was a “Seinfeld shutdown, the shutdown about nothing.” And considering it began with Republicans fighting to delay or defund Obamacare and it’s now ending with a small, minor concession on Obamacare that even Democrats agree on, one could argue that still applies.

DeFazio also took out a mirror and pointed it at his GOP colleagues to say they should look there to find out who’s really to blame for the parks shutting down.
