‘Disgusting!’ Fox News Runs Through Brutal Examples of Murderers and Rapists Whose Death Sentences Were Commuted by Biden
Fox News ran through several brutal examples of the convicted murderers and rapists who had their death sentences commuted by President Joe Biden with legal expert Andy McCarthy on Monday.
Earlier in the day, Biden announced that he was “commuting the sentences of 37 of the 40 individuals on federal death row to life sentences without the possibility of parole.”
“Make no mistake: I condemn these murderers, grieve for the victims of their despicable acts, and ache for all the families who have suffered unimaginable and irreparable loss,” he continued. “But guided by my conscience and my experience as a public defender, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Vice President, and now President, I am more convinced than ever that we must stop the use of the death penalty at the federal level. In good conscience, I cannot stand back and let a new administration resume executions that I halted.”
After McCarthy characterized Biden’s decision as “another abuse of the pardon power” that amounts to “a categorical change of the law,” anchor Julie Banderas went through a few of the recipients:
I want to take a look at some of the death row inmates whose sentences Biden actually commuted because it’s really disgusting. Thomas Sanders, he brutally kidnaped and murdered a 12-year old-girl, Lexis Roberts, in the fall of 2010. Apparently, Biden believes this man deserves to live. Meanwhile, the family of the 12-year-old girl has lost their daughter and now has to deal with justice not being served there. Jorge Avila-Torrez sexually assaulted and stabbed two girls — Laura Hobbs, just eight years old, Krystal Tobias, age nine at the time of her death — stabbed both these girls to death in 2005. He also strangled a naval officer, Amanda Snell, age 20 four years later. He now gets to live. Anthony Battle, another one among those sentences that were commuted, brutally murdered an Atlanta prison guard with a hammer in 1994. Now, this is an example of Joe Biden, who basically states that unless you’ve been charged with terrorism charges, then you you’re allowed to live. I mean, that’s that’s kind of how he looks at this. This is terrorism. You’re killing minors, if that’s not terrorism, I don’t know what is to parents.
“What I think this is, is selective moral preening. I mean, last week, the Biden Justice Department filed death charges against somebody who I don’t, in fact, I don’t think that is even a terrorism case. It’s a grisly murder, but they themselves filed death penalty charges,” commented McCarthy. “Now, today, he’s wiping the slate clean on death penalty charges that were brought by other administrations and other Justice Departments, but not in cases where he and his Justice Department actually had to deal with the victims and the obviously the families of the victims of these brutal homicides.”
