Ex-GOP Congresswoman Predicts ‘The Demise of MAGA’ Over McCarthy Ouster Debacle
Former Republican Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA) tore into MAGA House Republicans on Tuesday over their effort to remove Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
“As you are watching this play out, the body that you served in, colleagues who you know, what goes through your mind?” asked MSNBC anchor Chris Jansing.
“Well, I think it’s a very sad day for the institution to be brought to this,” Comstock replied, adding:
And I think, you know, I mean, this is what MAGA has done, both to the institution, to the country, and you know, less so to the party. I mean, I’m sad for the party, but I’m even more sad for the country and for the institution. So, you know, for the party, they aren’t hanging together. And I think if they do this today, they are going to be hanging separately. And, you know, that’s what Matt Gaetz and his, you know, merry band of misfits will do.
They’re a very destructive force. So it’s it’s a sad day, but they don’t have any plan. Do you know what are they going to do after this? But this is what MAGA has done. So as someone who doesn’t like what MAGA has done to the party, certainly I think it’s even worse what they’ve done to the country. If they actually succeed in this, I think it will be sort of the demise of MAGA. So I do not, you know, MAGA is also up in New York in the court today. So I think everyone’s seeing what a destructive, you know, force this is and you know both the judicial branch and now in the legislative branch.
“So rah rah MAGA, you are really showing your ugly faces today,” Comstock concluded, also referring to former President Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial in New York.
