Fox’s Bill Hemmer Says Elon Musk Will Inflict ‘Pain’ – But Americans Will Be ‘Thankful’
Bill Hemmer of Fox News said that while Elon Musk’s “Department of Government Efficiency” is causing “pain” in some areas, Americans will be grateful for the results.
Since President Donald Trump took office, Musk – a White House adviser with billions in contracts with the federal government – has been making critical personnel and spending decisions at various government agencies. The moves have prompted a series of lawsuits challenging their legality.
Tens of thousands of federal employees have been laid off, and Musk has frozen billions in congressionally appropriated funds. The cuts have generated a cloud of uncertainty at the affected agencies and institutions that rely on funding from them.
While guest-hosting Monday’s edition of The Story on Fox News, Hemmer hailed Musk’s efforts.
“The digital age is intersecting with the space age, and in the middle of all that you have artificial intelligence,” he said. “You have AI. And if you want a fully functioning, effective government over time you eventually have to do this. And there could be some pain along the way. But you will be thankful once you go through the tough stuff that you’ve made a better product for the people we are paying into it.”
Guest Gerard Baker of The Wall Street Journal agreed.
“Look, Elon Musk has proven himself to be a genius entrepreneur,” Baker gushed. “Artificial intelligence is transforming everything. We know that. I’m not one who thinks it’s gonna basically put us all out of jobs.”
Baker went on to note that Musk is unpopular with the general public, but Hemmer replied by saying that Musk could counter this by proving that DOGE has excised wasteful and even fraudulent government spending.
“If he provides those examples and makes them public, it’ll win people over,” the host concluded.
