Fox’s Cavuto Gives Chip Roy BRUTAL Feedback: ‘Republicans Are Not Leading’ and ‘You Guys Look Like the Keystone Cops’

Fox News host Neil Cavuto gave congressional Republicans a brutal review on Friday, telling Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) that they look helpless.

During a discussion on a looming government shutdown and wrangling over spending caps, Roy made the case that Republicans can recast themselves as the party of fiscal responsibility.

“We could reclaim the mantle of fiscal responsibility,” the lawmaker said. “We could help markets by saying we’re gonna actually be responsible about what we’re doing.”

Roy went on to criticize government mandates on electric vehicles and attempts to curb the use of gas stoves.

“So, let’s restrain that bureaucracy, and I think that’ll be better for markets, better for Trump, better for Americans, better for prosperity,” he added. “We just need Republicans to lead.”

“But Republicans are not leading,” Cavuto shot back. “No offense to you, Sir. I mean, you guys look like the Keystone Cops. You can’t agree on anything There’s now– everyone wants the speaker’s head. I don’t know where you stand on that.”

Roy agreed with Cavuto’s characterization. The Texas Republican has made no secret of his disappointment in the 118th Congress.

While speaking on the House floor in November, Roy challenged his Republican colleagues to “give me one thing I can go campaign on and say we did.” In a similar floor speech in January, he said, “We keep doing the same stupid stuff.”

House Republicans have had a bumpy ride since retaking the majority in January 2023. The session began with 15 rounds of voting simply to choose a speaker of the House in the form of Kevin McCarthy, who was ousted in October. Republicans then took three weeks to agree on a successor, Mike Johnson. This Congress is on track to become one of the least productive in U.S. history.
