Glenn Beck Knows Why Selma Was Snubbed
Glenn Beck watched Selma and believes he knows why the critically-acclaimed civil rights film was snubbed by the Academy in multiple Oscar categories next week: progressivism.
More specifically, progressive love of LBJ.
If you’ve been paying any attention to the controversy surrounding Selma, you’re aware that President Lyndon Johnson‘s portrayal in the film has upset some of his strongest defenders. Director Ava DuVernay took offense at those attacks and said she didn’t want to make a “white savior movie.”
And if you haven’t seen the film, here’s the spoiler-free explanation of how LBJ is portrayed: like a politician.
Beck is absolutely convinced this cost Selma nominations in other categories, arguing, “The last thing that progressives want is for their great hero of the 1960s, LBJ, to be remembered that way.” He said it has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with Hollywood progressives standing up for one of their heroes.
