GOP Rep. Dent: ‘How Does Sarah Sanders Go to Work Every Day’ and ‘Mislead The American People?’

President Donald Trump and every person working for him all seem to have their own personal set of alternative facts when it comes to porn star Stormy Daniels and the $130,000 hush money she received during the 2016 election. Now, it appears even some Republicans on Capitol Hill are exhausted by the he said, she said going on in the White House.
Rep. Charlie Dent (R—PA) lashed out at White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders during an interview with CNN on Thursday morning, asking how she goes “to work every day if she was sent out there to mislead the American people?”
“It’s clear that someone wasn’t telling the truth: either Sarah Huckabee Sanders or the president,” Dent said Thursday. “I believe what Rudy Giuliani said just last night, that in fact Michael Cohen was reimbursed by the president for this hush money payment.”
“I guess at some point you have to ask the question, how does Sarah Huckabee Sanders go to work every day if she was sent out there to mislead the American people?” he continued.
Dent has been a frequent critic of Trump throughout his presidency, and abruptly announced his intention to retire from Congress in September while criticizing his party’s moving further to the right. “I am especially proud of the work I have done to give voice to the sensible center in our country that is often overlooked or ignored,” he said at the time. “It is my intention to continue to aggressively advocate for responsible governance and pragmatic solutions in the coming years.”
On Thursday, the Congressman appeared frustrated by the White House’s lack of clarity and transparency in its varying statements surrounding the president’s alleged affair with Stormy Daniels and resulting gag order.
“If a Democratic president had paid off a porn star to keep quiet, while he was president, I suspect we would have hearings & there should be hearings to get to the bottom of it,” Dent said. “If the Democrat had done this, I suspect we would be waving a bloody shirt right now.”
