In Gift To Comics And Cable News, Alvin Greene Will Run Again

Yes, we will have Alvin Greene to kick around some more.

Fox News reports Greene, the South Carolina Senate candidate whose come-from-nowhere win in the Democratic primary and bizarre performances in television interviews, will run in a special election for a seat in the state legislature.

Greene, previously unknown in the political world, got plenty of attention by winning the S.C. Senate nomination with no cash, no campaign staff, and no campaign appearances. He was also, well, arrested on a felony charge of showing pornography to a college student.

Now, Greene’s got his eye on an open House seat:

Clarendon County Democratic Party Chairman Cal Land said Monday that Greene entered the race Friday, five minutes after filing opened for Harvin’s seat. The primary is Feb. 15 with a runoff, if needed, on March, 1. The special election is April 5.

In keeping with tradition, Greene was his typical bizarre self in a short interview with the Associated Press, refusing to comment on his filing:

“The filing closes next week and that’s when everybody finds out who has filed,” Greene said.

Greene won 350,000 votes in his losing effort to snatch the Senate seat of Jim DeMint.
