‘It’s On Him!’ Dem Rep Points Finger at Trump on Deadly Plane Crashes: ‘He Better Take Responsibility’

President Donald Trump should “take responsibility” on last week’s horrific fatal plane crashes, said former Army Lt. Colonel and Virginia Democrat Rep. Eugene Vindman on MSNBC.

On the latest Last Word from MSNBC, Ali Velshi spoke with Vindman, twin brother of former Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, about the latest Trump news, starting with the tragic and terrible mid-air collision between an Army Blackhawk helicopter and a commercial airliner in D.C. in which 67 people died.

Velshi gave an effusive introduction to Vindman, concluding by saying that the congressman is “the one person” who can “explain” to Americans, apparently in need of such instruction in Velshi’s view, that “nothing is more important than your integrity.”

Vindman agreed with the praise directed at him, saying “that’s true” before talking about his admiration for the first responders and recovery units in the deadly crash.

The Democrat then turned to Trump, saying that “the buck stops with the president.”

“There is no warm-up period for the president of the United States,” Vindman said. “If he wants to take responsibility for a raft of illegal executive orders, he better take responsibility for being the president and being in charge when a plane goes down in Washington, D.C., and it’s as simple as that.”

“It’s on him,” Vindman said of the tragedy, without being accused of “politicizing” it by Velshi.

VELSHI: Eugene Vindman, you are the one person to explain to Americans nothing is more important than your integrity.

VINDMAN: That’s true. Thank you so much for having me. Great to be back. And first thing I’d like to say is my heart goes out to the families of the passengers and crew of the American Airlines flight and the Blackhawk helicopter. And I’m also grateful to the first responders out of the 7th Congressional district, my district. Local fire truck 23 who are operating fire boat 512 throughout both the rescue and recovery period. They’re out there in the most difficult conditions. So I spoke to the fire chief. I’m grateful for their work. They’re they’re magnificent.

The second thing I would say is that, you know, the buck stops with the president. There is no warm-up period for the president of the United States. There’s no warm-up period for the the cabinet. He is the president of the United States. He has a cabinet that’s in place. If he wants to take responsibility for a raft of illegal executive orders, he better take responsibility for being the president and being in charge when a plane goes down in Washington, D.C., and it’s as simple as that. It’s on him. And it’s on his shoulders.
