James Carville Warns Dems ‘We’re Losing, They’re Winning,’ Demands Change to Avoid ‘Idiotic Choice for the Future of Our Country’

Democratic strategist James Carville warned Democrats they are barreling towards an election loss in November if they stick with the “idiotic choice” of President Joe Biden at the top of their ticket.

Carville, a former Bill Clinton advisor, joined CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Tuesday following his prediction that it’s “inevitable” Biden will step down from his reelection campaign amid calls from critics for him to do so.

Carville warned Democrats they are currently “losing” against Republicans thanks to all the chatter about Biden’s health and ability to win the election.

“I watch some of these press conferences and it reminds of a book they made me read in college called Ship of Fools, a bunch of desperate people sailing into disaster,” he said.

The strategist argued that Biden could have a negative effect on down-ballot races in the fall, too, something CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten highlighted in a segment on Tuesday as well.

“I still think I’ll stand by my thing that he won’t run, but if he does we’re just making a idiotic choice for the future of our country. I can’t help but believe that. The proof’s in the pudding,” Carville said. “They’re moving states away from us. We’re losing, we’re not winning. And when we lose, America loses. It’s that simple.”

Carville admitted there’s a “risk” to a last-minute candidate change, but he argued the Democratic Party needs an injection of “hope” as they are currently run by “fear.”

“I don’t see any hope in the Democratic Party right now. I see a lot of fear and a lot of, ‘Well, if we try something different, we end up in a ditch.’ Well, we’re already already in a ditch, but ought to try to get out of it as opposed to trying to drive in it, but I agree with everything that everybody says. I think we gotta have a change; I just genuinely do.”
