Journalist Breaks Down in Tears During Live Report — As Killer Who Stabbed 3 Young Girls at Taylor Swift Dance Party is Sentenced

Sky News reporter Sarah-Jane Mee was overcome with emotion and broke down in tears on-air while covering the sentencing of killer Axel Rudakubana, who brutally murdered three young girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in England.

The three young victims – Alice da Silva Aguiar, 9, Bebe King, 6, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7 – were killed in the attack on July 29 while attending the class. In addition to the murders, Rudakubana admitted to attempting to kill eight other children—whose identities remain protected—along with dance instructor Leanne Lucas.

Outside Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, Mee was relaying the events of the killing to the host in the studio explaining how the instructor had screamed for help as the attack began. Two local window cleaners ran into the building, the journalist said, picking up one of the young murdered children and carrying her out of the building “screaming at the extent of her injuries.”

As the reporter spoke she broke down in tears, having to stop.

“Just take a breath,” the host said.

“Right, sorry, it’s just so distressing, isn’t it?” Mee said, crying.

She continued: “Look, we’re here for those girls and their families, so I’m trying not to get upset because it is such an important day for them. And this is horrid, what came to their door.”

Throughout the case prosecutors revealed in court that the injuries inflicted on his victims were “difficult to explain as anything other than sadistic in nature.” The court also heard remarks made by Rudakubana in a custody suite just after the attack, having said: “I’m glad they’re dead.”

Evidence seized by police from the 18-year-old’s home revealed a disturbing obsession with violence, killing, and genocide, according to the prosecution.

During the sentencing, the defendant began shouting to disrupt proceedings and demanding medical attention.

“I’m not fine, I feel ill,” he insisted from the dock. “I need to speak to a paramedic because I feel ill. They’re not giving me any support. I feel ill.”

Rudakubana was sentenced to 52 years in prison after pleading guilty to all 16 charges against him.
