Katie Couric Tells CNN’s Weir Whether She Would Ever Return to Today

Earlier this week, The New York Post’s Claire Atkinson reported that Katie Couric was “in preliminary talks” to fill-in for NBC’s Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie when she goes on maternity leave this summer. The Post’s sources even said Couric return could become more permanent if the show’s ratings rose with her presence.
But during an interview set to air on CNN with Bill Weir Wednesday night, Couric, who is currently hosting a digital show for Yahoo, put the kibosh on the whole thing. Asked by Weir if she would ever rejoin former co-host Matt Lauer on Today, Couric said, “I don’t think so. No, no, no.”
That being said, she also told Weir that she does “miss” the Today show gang. “I had a wonderful 15 year run at the Today show, and I’m still in touch with them,” she said. “So, you know, they’ll always have a special place in my heart.”
