Kerry Offers Brief Comment on Turkey: We Hope for ‘Continuity and Peace’
Secretary of State John Kerry happened to be holding a press conference as more and more reports of a coup emerged from Turkey.
Kerry did not offer much comment, instead saying that he has been made aware of the same reports that everyone else has.
“I hope that there will be staility and peace and continuity within Turkey, but I have nothing to add with respect to what has transpired at this moment.”
The State Department, meanwhile, has issued a warning to U.S. citizens in Turkey that they should “shelter in place and stay indoors.”
