Kevin McCarthy Claims Enraged Nancy Pelosi Would ‘Yell’ at Republicans That They ‘Shouldn’t Be in the Room’

Former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) recounted to Fox News on Wednesday that Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) used to “yell” at Republicans that they “shouldn’t be in the room.”

McCarthy was speaking with Fox News’ Jesse Watters about a graphic titled “How Each Side Views the Other,” which claimed that a majority of conservatives see liberals as “children,” while a majority of liberals see conservatives as “savages.”

“It is so true, and this is where they get the Trump syndrome,” McCarthy said, referencing what President Donald Trump has often called “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Of Pelosi, also a former Speaker of the House, McCarthy added, “It’s true of how they would treat us. Nancy Pelosi really felt this about us. Like, we shouldn’t be in the room; she would yell at me sometimes. And then, they would put magnetometers to try to deny us from entering, and you couldn’t co-author with us.”

Magnetometers are commonly used at entry checkpoints to detect weapons, sensing changes in magnetic fields caused by a firearm’s metal parts. They were a major point of contention during the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots, after Trump was angry that the Secret Service made attendees pass through one to enter the rally space, wanting maximum attendance.

McCarthy continued, “It was so outrageous that you couldn’t respect the other one, and this is the problem I have, where I think America has failed a little bit when it came to politics. We should be able to disagree with somebody without being disrespectful.”

Citing the graphic referenced earlier, he said, “If you noticed in that, the Republicans respect the other side. They just thought you were children. We had hope that they would grow up one day. But they treated us and thought of us as monsters and murderers. How would you ever look to that person to be better?”
