Mayweather Wants Rematch with Pacquiao So He Can Make Another $180M

The Fight of the Century last weekend between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather left millions of people underwhelmed, and both of them very rich: each fighter ended up taking home over $100 million. Mayweather won, but what would make Mayweather even happier — happier than allegedly hitting women! — is anotherStephen A. Smith — wait, can Floyd Mayweather write? — the boxer said he’d be interested in a rematch against Pacquiao about a year from September, after the Filipino boxer recovers from surgery.

Oh, right — that surgery. It’s recently emerged that Pacquiao suffered a minor tear in rotator cuff in early April, but refused to get surgery because, well, there was a multimillion-dollar fight scheduled for May. The injury was exacerbated by the fight, and Pacquiao’s doctors estimate it will take between nine and twelve months for him to recover. (The sports world is not happy about Pacquiao’s decision to push through the injury.)

But more money? Why yes, there’s a perfect narrative being set up for a Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch! Now that there are Reasons to hold one, let’s all throw another $300 million at these two to set up a silly match.
