Mediaite Interviews FBN’s Adam Shapiro, The Man Heckled By Occupy Wall Street

On the police presence:
We ask a lot of our police officers. The Occupy Wall Street protesters yell at the police officers on occasion. But if something happens, who do they call? The police officers.

Occasionally, I’ll buy a police officer a cup of coffee. A lot of people, if they see a cop behind them at a Starbucks, or something, they’ll say, “Put that on my bill.” And almost every time I offer to do that, the police officers say, “Thank you but I can’t accept.”

On whether or not the movement needs to anoint a leader:
It would probably help if they had an organized leadership. But that’s not my call to make. I think if they don’t get some kind of organization, it will… [pauses] I think they’re going to have trouble keeping the momentum going forward. Because there are so many different voices. A lot of people relate to what they’re saying because people are angry about what’s happened over the past couple years.

On Zuccotti Park’s growing celebrity:
On 9/11 — on the anniversary — I was down there at night, and I went through the park. And I was thinking, This is really beautiful down here. And, you know, just a few days later, some people showed up.

On getting yelled at in that beautiful park:
It’s never fun when people are yelling at you.

On getting heckled against getting Howard Stern bombed:
[laughs] I would rather just be able to do my job without being yelled at or interrupted.
