Melanie Griffith and Dakota Johnson Give Incredibly Awkward Oscars Red Carpet Interview

Seemingly determined to prolong the most terribly awkward press tour in film history, Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson and her mother Melanie Griffith demonstrated how uncomfortableness is apparently in the blood line.

The pair stood in for an Oscars red carpet interview with ABC’s Lara Spencer and acted completely disinterested in being there; answered the usual questions with terse, somewhat standoffish answers; and had somewhat of a public tiff over whether mom has seen her daughter’s sexy-time BDSM-lite movie (that isn’t really all that sexy).

Just when you wonder why Johnson has been so awkward and stilted on her Fifty Shades press tour — as Defamer thoroughly recounted — all you need to do is look next to her and see that mom Melanie is just as, if not more, awkward. Oof.
