MS NOW Senior Reporter Warns Pirro Could ‘Lose Her Legal License’ Over Case Trump Wanted

MS NOW senior national security reporter David Rohde said Monday that Jeanine Pirro risked losing her law license by pursuing the criminal case against the man she and President Donald Trump accused of vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

The prosecution collapsed Friday when Pirro’s office dismissed the case against former Olympic canoeist David Hearn, explaining that newly disclosed Interior Department records showed the damage to the Reflecting Pool stemmed from a botched installation by contractor Atlantic Industrial Coatings rather than vandalism. Prosecutors said they did not receive the information until after Hearn had already been indicted. Hearn had previously pleaded not guilty.

When asked if Pirro dropped the case because “she knew she was not gonna win,” Rohde responded, “Yes. I mean, look, Judge Jeanine — and for supporters of President Trump who’ve watched her for years — she’s being a good lawyer. She’s going to lose this case in court. She’ll be reprimanded and could lose her legal license.”

Rohde continued:

Bluntly, the president is lying in the Oval Office, and he’s not in a courtroom. If you lie in a federal court, you can lose your law license. She would have been humiliated if she brought this case. There is exculpatory evidence. There was not a giant gash. I was just looking — there’s all these press reports about how the gash makes no sense, there’s no evidence of it, experts say it wouldn’t have mattered if there was one. So, I praise Jeanine Pirro for withdrawing the charges in this case.

Days before prosecutors abandoned the case, Hearn’s attorneys argued in a court filing that the government’s own evidence undercut the felony charge. They pointed to grand jury testimony from a National Park Service official who acknowledged the Reflecting Pool already had significant preexisting damage and could not determine what, if any, harm was caused by Hearn.

Also on Monday, Trump doubled down on his “vandalism” claims, telling reporters in the Oval Office that he thinks Pirro “choked” and “folded like an umbrella.”
