Oscar Host ‘Ellen’ Interviews Quick-Changing Johnny Weir in SNL Cold Open

On this weekend’s Saturday Night Live, the show opened on a vaguely topical note with a sketch about upcoming Oscar host Ellen DeGeneres, but not hosting the Oscars. Instead, Kate McKinnon‘s quirk-laden DeGeneres hosted her syndicated talk show, pranking Jay Pharoah‘s version of Captain Philips nominee Barkad Abdi, and interviewing returning Sochi Olympic commentator Johnny Weir. Spoiler alert: someone yells “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!” at the end.
