Paul Rudd is One Direction’s Comically Devoted Middle-Aged #1 Fan on SNL

Anchorman 2 star Paul Rudd was joined by this week’s Saturday Night Live musical guests One Direction for a very funny taped piece in which Rudd portrayed Dan Charles, middle-aged #1 fan of the boy band. Rudd absolutely nailed the obsessiveness of fandom, and the deadly seriousness of his rivalry with the rest of the band’s considerably younger fans, but the highlight of the sketch is Rudd leading a fan chant that just goes wrong. Very wrong.
