Rand Paul: GOP Should Stand Up for More Amendments than Just the Second

Senator Rand Paul is aiming to distinguish himself from the rest of the GOP field by extending his outreach to different demographics that don’t normally go for the GOP. And in talking about outreach with Sean Hannity tonight, Paul explained what he thinks the Republican Party can do to get more people listening to what they have to say.

“One of the problems that we have as a Republican Party,” Paul said, “is we’re really good at defending the Second Amendment… but we’ve forgotten about some of the other amendments.”

He argued the rights to due process and a speedy trial are being denied to certain Americans, and it would help the GOP to “show equal deference and love” to the other amendments as they do to the second.
