Scottie Nell Hughes Joins Russian Government Funded RT as Anchor

Former pro-Trump CNN contributor Scottie Nell Hughes is joining Russian government-backed RT America as an anchor.
As first reported by the Daily Beast, the deal is “lucrative” and will have Hughes anchoring the 5 pm and 8 pm hours weekdays, taking over a role once held by the late Ed Schultz.
“It’s an honor and privilege to anchor RT America’s weeknight newscasts,” Hughes told THR about her new gig.
She added: “Ed Shultz was a dear friend and mentor. I can never fill his shoes, but I’ll do my best to live up to his high standards by reporting the real news, with balance, respect and hopefully a bit of Southern charm.”
Hughes made headlines when she sued Fox News and 21st Century Fox last September claiming a rape allegation got her kicked off the network. The sexual harassment and assault claims made by Hughes were all dismissed, but the case was allowed to continue on in a limited basis earlier this year.
One month after the lawsuit was made public, Hughes said she had been blacklisted by conservative brands, claiming, “I can’t be touched by any media or any network.”
RT America news director Mikhail Solodovnikov, though, said he was glad to have Hughes on the air.
“Ms. Hughes has a commanding presence, and we are eager to watch her grow into her new role here,” he said about Hughes’ new role.
