Seth Meyers Rips Trump on Puerto Rico: Not Only is He a ‘Callous, Incompetent Moron, He’s Also an Ass’

On Wednesday night, Seth Meyers slammed President Donald Trump over recent marks he made about his handling of Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.

Meyers began by declaring that Trump is “incapable” of reassuring the public that the government can handle a crisis, particularly Hurricane Florence. He pointed to the president’s remarks, calling Hurricane Florence “tremendously big and tremendously wet.”

“‘Tremendously big and tremendously wet,'” Meyers reacted. “A deadly storm is bearing down on our coast and you’re making it sound like a fancy British waterpark.”

He mocked the president for ignoring the two charts full of information beside him but instead chose to “ramble off the top of his head like a fifth grader who just saw a mall fountain.”

The Late Night host then blasted Trump for not only being “dangerously incompetent” but being “proud” of it by praising his administration’s response to last year’s Hurricane Maria as an “unsung success,” which he doubled down on Twitter earlier in the day.

“First of all, Puerto Rico is not an ‘inaccessible island.’ They have a Ritz Carlton and Jet Blue has a flight there every half hour,” Meyers said. “You’re talking about it like it’s Skull Island… Second, it’s not reassuring when the president talks about a potentially devastating storm like he’s Fred Sanford.”

“Seriously, you’re calling a humanitarian disaster that left thousands of American citizens dead an ‘unappreciated success’ while attacking the people who actually tried to do something about it,” Meyers continued. “Not only is our president a callous, incompetent moron, he’s also an ass.”
