Steve Doocy Confronts The Who’s Pete Townshend About Stealing ‘The Windmill’
The Who’s Pete Townshend sat down for an interview with Fox & Friends‘ Steve Doocy, where the iconic guitarist — who has a new book out called Who I Am — was asked about the band’s name (they had originally toyed with calling themselves… wait for it… “The Hair,” or even “The Hair and the Who”), and about the art of smashing a guitar.
Doocy also asked Townshend about the origin of his signature “windmill” move, which Townshend had seen the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richard perform once while warming up. Thinking it was a regular part of his stage act, Townshend asked Richards about it later, only to find that he had no idea what he was talking about. And, with that, Townshend had his new move. Keith Richards: An inspiration for fellow guitarists and eyeliner-wearing pirates alike.
Alas, Townshend wasn’t exactly keen on reuniting with the band next summer for Fox & Friends‘ summer concert series… not even for a “whopping” $1,500.
